Subtext techniques:

1. **Double meaning words:** Choose words that work both ways
2. **Innocent imagery:** Images that carry hidden weight
3. **Tone mismatch:** Cheerful surface, dark underneath
4. **Overstatement:** Protesting too much
5. **Strategic omission:** What is NOT mentioned?
6. **Coded language:** Words that carry specific meaning

Revise lyrics to embed subtext:
- The casual listener hears the surface
- The attentive listener catches the depth
- Both readings are satisfying
