Design symbolic action:

1. LITERAL FUNCTION
- What is the practical action?
- What does character think they are doing?
- What surface goal is served?

2. SYMBOLIC RESONANCE
- What larger meaning does action carry?
- Theme embodiment?
- Character truth revealed?

3. NATURAL INTEGRATION
- Action must not feel forced
- Story logic supports it
- Character would do this

4. READER RECOGNITION
- Will symbolism be apparent?
- Too obvious or too subtle?
- Reward for attention?

5. CALLBACK POTENTIAL
- Can action be repeated or referenced?
- Variation adding meaning?
- Resolution through action?

Write the scene with the symbolic action embedded naturally. Then write a later scene where the action is echoed or inverted.
