- Can you state it in one sentence?
- Is the want active or passive?

- Is it external, internal, or both?
- Is it active (pushing back)?

4. WHAT CHANGES?
- Is the situation different at the end?
- Has any character changed emotionally?

5. WHY THIS SCENE NOW?
- What has to happen before it?
- What can't happen until after it?

6. CAN WE START LATER?
- Where's the first essential moment?
- Cut everything before it.

7. CAN WE END EARLIER?
- Where's the last essential moment?
- Cut everything after it.
