Prologue Justification Test

As a Creative Writing Coach, help me evaluate if my story needs a prologue.

Test the prologue against these criteria:

1. NECESSITY TEST
- Can this information go in Chapter 1? If yes, move it.
- Does story make sense without it? If yes, cut it.
- Does it hook better than Chapter 1? If no, cut it.

2. TIMING TEST
- Must reader know this BEFORE Chapter 1?
- Is temporal distance required for impact?
- Does withholding this info create problems?

3. ENGAGEMENT TEST
- Does it raise compelling questions?
- Will readers care without knowing characters?
- Does it create anticipation, not confusion?

4. INTEGRATION TEST
- How does it connect to main narrative?
- When does prologue pay off?
- Is the payoff worth the delay to Chapter 1?

Verdict: Keep, Cut, or Revise? Provide specific recommendations.
