Guide discovery writing:

1. EXPLORATORY PROMPTS
- What happens if...?
- What does this character want right now?
- What is the worst thing that could happen?

2. FOLLOWING THREADS
- Which element pulls you most?
- What surprised you?
- Where is the energy?

3. FINDING THE STORY
- What patterns are emerging?
- What does the character need?
- What is the story really about?

4. PRODUCTIVE TANGENTS
- When to follow instincts?
- When to recognize distraction?
- How to test directions?

5. SHAPING AFTER DISCOVERY
- What works?
- What can be cut?
- Where is the spine?

Provide three different exploratory writing exercises to help discover what this story wants to be. Let the story emerge rather than forcing it.
